West Ham boss David Moyes admits Scotland ambitions

West Ham boss David Moyes admits he has ambitions of coaching Scotland.

Moyes has just signed a new contract with the Hammers. However, he has confessed ambitions beyond the Irons, declaring an interest in the Scotland job.

For the moment, Steve Clarke is safe, as he prepares to lead Scotland in the next round of World Cup qualifiers. But Moyes has made it clear to the Scottish FA that he'd be interested in the job.

Moyes told BBC Scotland via Bold: "Yes, I have it now (international ambitions). I have come to a place in my career where I really enjoy being a club coach and feel like I still have things that I need to achieve.

"But I am thinking of the right time, when things are right for me, and if then Scotland arrives, I will take it into consideration."

Moyes' deal with West Ham runs to 2024 and he is a former Celtic defender. He and West Ham have been in Scotland for a preseason camp and held their first friendly last week, drawing 2-2 with Dundee.

West Ham have kicked off their preseason early after qualifying for the Europa League last term. Moyes guided the club to a sixth place finish.
