West Ham boss Allardyce regrets NZ tour

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce is critical of their tour of New Zealand last week.

The Hammers played games in Auckland and Wellington before flying back to London on Monday, less than two weeks before the start of the new season.

"We only got back from New Zealand on Monday, which was probably a trip too far," the West Ham boss said. "Taking the journey with the hours [involved] was probably a bit too far. But the people in New Zealand looked after us fantastically well and the games were well organised. We got a few injuries, that was the biggest disappointment."
