West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has challenged the FA to fight FIFA over their push to scrap the loan system.
Allardyce wrote in the London Evening Standard: "I understand there has to be a world governing football body but why can't, within that system, individual countries determine their own rules and regulations under their associations.
"A rule for the benefit of football is fine but the abolition of the emergency loan system would be a disaster. We're struggling to develop players in this country already and how much worse would it be if we couldn't loan out players to learn their trade and gain valuable experience.
"Players like David Beckham, Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, Jermain Defoe, all went on loan and learned to grow up in football terms."
