West Ham boss Allardyce: AVB was given impossible task at Spurs

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has slammed Tottenham over the axing of Andre Villas-Boas.

Villas-Boas left Spurs yesterday.

Allardyce is quoted by the Daily Mail: "Decisions made as quickly as that for me are a surprise because of the situation Tottenham arrived in, bringing in so many new players.

"When the transition period is of that size, to ask a manager to go out with that many new faces, it is virtually impossible to get consistency and get them to play as a team.

"We saw it with Paolo di Canio and my old mate Steve Bruce at Sunderland, to get a team playing together as a team and to understand everyone in that time is an impossibility. I think the fruition of the change at Tottenham will be seen next season more than this.

"You have to be a miracle worker to get everyone functioning to the best of their ability when they've just arrived from foreign countries into a different culture and different arena they've never played in before.

"There's a lack of patience in the game and we all know why because it's got £70m written on the back of it."
