West Brom boss Tony Mowbray is keen to clear up the future of Zoltan Gera.
The Hungarian winger will be out-of-contract at The Hawthorns at the end of the season, and he is yet to agree a new deal. Middlesbrough and Aston Villa are among Premiership clubs monitoring Gera.
"It seems to be the prudent thing to do. For all we know Real Madrid might be around the corner waiting for him.
"That's a bit of a flippant comment but I don't know who is out there and neither does he so while there is an opportunity out there to look at options why commit yourself to something?
"I'm pretty sure that's what's happening but that can't go on for too long because our football club, as soon as we know what we're doing, need to prepare for next season and if that means finding somebody to fill Zoltan's position we need to get moving on it very quickly.
"A decision will be sought pretty soon."
