Peter Odemwingie has revealed West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke wants silverware this season.

Odemwingie confirmed winning a trophy this season is high on his new gaffer's list this season.

The Nigerian revealed: "Before our first game he spoke a bit about the whole season.

"We were playing Liverpool, which was obviously important, but he was speaking about the whole season.

"It quickly became clear he is very ambitious. He said he wants to build and instead of just trying to stay in the league, he wants to kick on and win one of the cups. He told us he will play strong teams in the cups and he will be aggressive, not passive.

"We won't just be defending, we are going to try to grow."
