West Brom still trying to secure Olsson

West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke admits that the club is still trying to secure a new deal for Jonas Olsson.

The Swedish defender is out of contract next summer and the Baggies are determined to extend his stay at The Hawthorns after him becoming one of the clubs top players over the last few seasons.

"The club are still talking to Jonas. The chairman (Jeremy Peace) and Dan Ashworth (sporting and technical director) are in negotiations," said Clarke.

"Jonas respects the fact we are keeping him for the last year of his contract, and we respect the fact he's in the last year of his contract.

"If we can find a solution, that's what we'll do, and that's what we're working to do."
