West Bromwich Albion captain Chris Brunt was grateful to his teammates for beating Aston Villa - despite his spotkick miss.
He was given the chance to level the scores in the Villa Park encounter, only to fire his penalty horribly wide of the left-hand post.
"I think it was the worst penalty I've ever seen!" Brunt told the WBA website.
"You can't make excuses, but I had to wait a long time to take it and I just caught it all wrong, and I knew from the second it left my foot that it was never going in.
"Even though in the end we won the game, so it didn't cost us, it was a huge disappointment to blaze it wide.
"It's all a part of taking penalties, they don't all go in.
"I've missed ones before, and I dare say I'll miss others in future if the rest of the lads let me take any!
"But the lads reacted ever so well after that and on a personal level, I was especially pleased to be involved in creating the two goals to make up for the miss."
