West Brom rule out sale of Al-Gharafa target Ideye

West Bromwich Albion are in no hurry to sell Brown Ideye.

The Baggies purchased the 26-year old Nigerian striker from Dynamo Kyiv for a club-record £10million in the summer but he has produced only three goals since his arrival.

That lack of output has prompted speculation that Ideye could be sold to Qatari side Al-Gharafa for around £3.8m with the transfer window of that particular league set to close next week.

However, Albion manager Tony Pulis has played down claims that the West Midlands outfit were on the verge of offloading Ideye who scored the equaliser in the 2-2 draw with Burnley on the weekend.

"If he goes we've only got Saido (Berahino) and Victor (Anichebe) as our two centre forwards so we can't let anyone else go," said Pulis.

"He's got a great opportunity now to play some games and we were very pleased to see him score.

"If you could have picked one player on the pitch to score it would certainly have been Brownie because of the pressure it takes off him.

"He's a good lad. He's got a great character and a smile on his face each day and he works hard.

"What he has to do is put the ball in the back of the net because irrespective of what we talk about, they get judged on what they do on the pitch.

"The chances he's had - and he's had some very good opportunities - he hasn't taken and he has to put that right.

"Hopefully the goal on Sunday will take that weight off his shoulders and if chances do fall for him, fingers crossed he will smash them into the back of the net."
