West Brom have reportedly lined up a bid for Derby winger Giles Barnes as they prepare for Zoltan Gera to leave The Hawthorns this summer.
Baggies boss Tony Mowbray is resigned to losing the 29-year-old after admitting he will not improve the terms of a new contract which has been on the table at The Hawthorns for a number of months.
But the Albion gaffer wants a right-sided specialist to replace the void filled by Gera, whose swash-buckling style and goals from midfield made him a firm fans' favourite during his time in the Black Country.
And Mowbray has pinpointed Rams winger Barnes, who missed most of their disastrous top-flight campaign through injury but is desperate to continue plying his trade in England's top tier.
Reports suggest Barnes, 19, has been offered a £20,000-a-week package by Albion, who would need to stump up around £5million to get their man.
