West Brom midfielder Morrison urges Berahino to show respect

James Morrison has implored Saido Berahino to show his appreciation for West Bromwich Albion.

The 22-year-old striker missed out on a summer move to Tottenham when Albion's Jeremy Peace blocked the transfer, prompting the player to indicate he never wanted to play for Tony Pulis under the chairman.

There has been plenty of uproar surrounding the England U21 international and his reportedly petulant behaviour and although teammate Morrison can understand why he wanted to land a move to Spurs, he has asked the youngster to respect the West Midlands club now that he has bene forced to stay at The Hawthorns.

"I am sure Tony will have a chat with him. Tony is a good man and he's a wise man as well, he'll guide him through it and I am sure he'll come out the other side," Morrison told Sky Sports News HQ.

"I think we do [understand]. You can't knock him for wanting to go to Tottenham, but he should respect the club as they've been with him since a young age."

Scotland midfielder Morrison was also supremely confident that Berahino will put the saga behind him, as he has done with past off-field controversies, and perform for the Baggies.

Morrison added: "He's done it before, so I look forward to having a chat with him and help guide him to get back on track and do what he does best, which is score goals and perform."
