West Bromwich Albion legend Terry Brown has urged fans to get behind manager Alan Irvine.
Fans reacted with fury when the Baggies chose the former Preston and Sheffield Wednesday boss as Pepe Mel's successor.
But 'Bomber' Brown, the club's record goalscorer and appearance-maker, told the Express & Star: "Supporters are not there to pick the manager. The club have picked him and he's taken a lot of stick but it's not his fault he's been given the job.
"We've just got to get behind him as a club.
"You don't want disharmony between the supporters and the club because it's a distraction and it gets you nowhere.
"Like I've said to every manager that has come in - and there have been a few in recent years - they will live and die by results.
"While he's here we just have to get behind him."
