West Bromwich Albion are determined to see off competition from Manchester United to land Dundee United youngster Scott Allan.

The Sun says Old Trafford boss Alex Ferguson has sent scouts to watch the impressive midfielder in action this season.

Allan, 19, only recently made his SPL debut but is out of contract at the end of this season and other clubs can approach him in January.

West Brom have a long-standing interest in the player, who has also been watched by Newcastle.
