West Brom keen for Gera to agree new deal

Zoltan Gera says West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke wants him to stay at the club for another year. The 33-year-old injured his left knee in January and ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.

"Our coach continuously backs me by saying that he'd like me to play here next season. I'd like it too," Gera told www.origo.hu.

"I hope when it's time we'll agree and I can sign a new contract with the club. I will do my best and I want to show in the training centre that I would like to stay.

"We're in the top 10 and it's a success although it seems to be sure we missed the chance to play in a European cup in the following season."

Gera says his rehab is going well, and added: "I'm fine, my rehabilitation goes as it should. My legs are getting stronger and I can't feel any pain.

"I can put weight on my legs progressively and I'm in good hands. I can do more day by day to be ready to train again and I enjoy this.

"I'd like to be back very much for the summer pre-season which is realistically a bit early but my plan is to be healthy for that time.

"I won't speed my rehab up, when my doctor says I can train I'll attend training from that time."
