West Brom humbled by Walsall

West Brom were humbled by neighbours Walsall 2-0 in last night's friendly.

The Premier League side selected a mainly youthful team and were undone by their local rivals after goals in either half from Anthony Gerrard and Troy Deeney.

Tony Mowbray still looks undecided as to who will be his first-choice goalkeeper with Scott Carson and Dean Kiely each playing 45 minutes.

Kiely started the match, but could do little about the Saddlers' opening strike as poor marking at a corner allowed Gerrard the chance to break the deadlock in the 36th minute.

Carson could not be faulted either for the home side's second goal as substitute Deeney found the back of the net with a clinical finish five minutes from time.

Jimmy Mullen's men kick off their campaign with a trip to Yeovil on Saturday, while Mowbray's side have another week to prepare before their daunting trip to Emirates Stadium to meet Arsenal.
