West Brom give Sevilla swift answer over Valero offer

West Brom have rejected an offer from Sevilla for Borja Valero after the Spanish club submitted a bid on Thursday, reports the Birmingham Mail. Having failed to settle during Albion's fateful Premier League campaign of 2008/09, Valero enjoyed a hugely successful season-long loan spell at Sevilla's La Liga rivals Real Mallorca last term.

Sporting & technical director Dan Ashworth said: "There have been lots of rumours in the media over the past few weeks about Sevilla being interested in Borja but the bid they tabled was the first we have received from them.

"It was rejected out of hand as it was nowhere near what we would regard as an acceptable offer.

"Borja enjoyed an outstanding season in Spain and we have just been promoted to the top flight. If we do not receive a satisfactory offer for Borja, we are more than happy for him to rejoin us for pre-season training in three weeks' time and be a part of our Premier League squad."
