West Bromwich Albion defender Joleon Lescott is hopeful that his former side Manchester City can win the Premier League title this season.

City started off their campaign in fine fashion with a convincing 3-0 victory over Albion at The Hawthorns on Monday night.

Lescott was at the wrong end of the result against City but the defender has now stated that he is hopeful of his old club going on to lift the Premier League title this season.

"It's early to say but I'm sure they expect themselves to win the title," Lescott said.

"Hopefully they will. I know how they think and I hope they do.

"Obviously they want to win every game. Their expectations are very high, they believe they can win every game and they believe they can win the league."
