West Brom chief Ashworth convinced of huge Yacob impact

West Bromwich Albion chief Dan Ashworth is delighted with their deal for Claudio Yacob.

The Argentine has joined a free from Racing Club.

"He was a captain when very young and the Argentinian league is very good," Ashworth told the Express & Star. "It's very physical and competitive and some top players have played in it and come through it from clubs like Boca Juniors and River Plate.

"There are some good teams in it and some good players. Anybody who can be captain of Racing, who are the third or fourth biggest club in Argentina, has got to have some leadership attributes.

"One of the things for Claudio is to master the English language because he will find it a bit more difficult to communicate, but I'm sure after two or three months his leadership qualities will come out."
