West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson is disappointed by George Thorne's ankle injury.
The 19-year-old midfielder has impressed on loan during a second spell at Championship outfit Portsmouth since February.
And the Baggies boss was relishing the opportunity to utilise the England youth international during the final six games of the Barclays Premier League season.
"George Thorne has done extremely well at Portsmouth and we were looking forward to seeing him maybe in our team in the last six games," said Hodgson to the WBA website.
"He's come back injured and he won't take any further part this season by all accounts.
"It's a bit of a blow because, after seeing him do so well at Portsmouth, it would have been interesting to see if he could do something for us in the last few games.
"But it looks like he'll have to wait until next season now."
