Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku hopes to stay with West Bromwich Albion for the remainder of the season.

The Belgium star joined Albion on a season-long loan in the summer, but there is talk he could be recalled by Chelsea manager Roberto di Matteo in the new year.

Baggies boss Steve Clarke said: "I haven't spoken to Chelsea about what might happen.

"I don't know a one-year loan in the Premier League that doesn't have a get-out clause.

"But Romelu's in a better place now than he was when he came to us because he's played in the Premier League and he's been a handful."
