West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke is delighted with their deal for Dynamo Kiev fullback Goran Popov.
Clarke was happy to welcome a new signing, who did appear set to join Stoke City.
"I've said many times over the past few weeks that we've been looking to bring in one more defender and I'm delighted we've managed to sign Goran," said the Albion boss.
"We allowed two left-backs (Joe Mattock and Nicky Shorey) to leave at the end of last season so it's very pleasing we've got another naturally left-sided player within the group to give us more balance.
"We've now got good competition for places in all areas of the squad.
"Goran is a player the club have closely monitored for around three years so we know what we're getting.
"He has also given up the opportunity to play Champions League football with Dynamo Kiev to join Albion in the Premier League and he's determined to do well here."
