Former Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro rejected staying in England to sign permanently with Werder Bremen.
The Daily Mail says Hull and Portsmouth are believed to have shown an interest in the Peru striker before he returned to the Bundesliga after spending last season on loan at Bremen.
Pizarro, who was the German outfit's top scorer with 28 goals in all competitions, said: "The whole process was quite nerve-racking. There was interest from England but I am happy to be back at Werder."
