Wellington, Sydney fixtures will be a good test for us - Newcastle's Pardew

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is eagerly anticipating his clubs trip to New Zealand this offseason.

The Magpies will head down under to face Premier League rivals West Ham United and A-League sides Wellington Phoenix and Sydney FC in the Football United Tour NZ 2014 in what will be a stern test for the north east club according to their boss.

"We are very much looking forward to being part of the Football United Tour and to training and playing at first class facilities in Dunedin and Wellington," said Pardew.

"Football has grown impressively in both New Zealand and Australia in recent years, with some excellent players and teams coming to the fore, so the Wellington Phoenix and Sydney FC fixtures will provide a good test for our players as we prepare them for next season."

Newcastle will take on the Sky Blues in Dunedin on July 22 before meeting the Phoenix in Wellington four days later.
