Wellington Phoenix are hoping to get an A-League match moved so it does not clash with New Zealand's international friendly against Iraq.
The Phoenix want their clash with Adelaide United on September 4 to be deferred so that the All Whites match in Amman on September 5 is not compromised.
Coach of both teams, Ricki Herbert, is desperate to have the date on the Phoenix match moved as club Chief executive Tony Pignata pointed out.
"We're potentially going to have eight or nine players away and if you only have a squad of 21 or 22, you're just decimated, and it's not fair given it's a Fifa window and we have no choice," Pignata said.
"We're waiting to hear back and hopefully the FFA is sympathetic to that. If not, it's going to be another battle.
"It's not what we want to do. You're playing for three critical points and we're not even looking down that track at the moment."
