Welbeck ready to kick-start Watford season

Danny Welbeck is fit and ready to kick-start Watford's Premier League season.

The striker scored his first goal for the club in Tuesday's win over Swansea City.

The Hornets are winless from six Premier League games and Welbeck is ready to lead the line.

"It was good to be back on the pitch and getting involved and it's nice to get a goal and obviously we got the win and we're through to the next round so it's important," said Welbeck.

"It's been good, obviously I want to be involved in matches more, but I've got to take it slow, it's been a long time since I played a run of games, so I'm just working hard behind the scenes and trying to get myself in the best shape possible.

"I'm fit, I played tonight. I want to be out on the pitch, that's why I've come - I want to be playing football and I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully I can start playing on the weekends."
