Welbeck happy to park Brighton contract talks

Brighton striker Danny Welbeck admits he's parked talks over new contract talks to focus on the end of season.

The Albion striker scored and was hugely involved in an own goal as his side drew 2-2 with Southampton on Sunday.

He is out of contract this summer and said: “I am feeling good, feeling fit and strong.

“Getting the minutes and being back in the team, in the starting line-up, and getting a run of games together is important for me.

“I'm looking to finish the season strong and see what happens.

“I had a really tough injury, which was difficult to come back from.

“I've kept my head down and worked hard and I'm feeling really good."

Welbeck told The Argus he will not get involved in off-field matters with four games still to play.

He said: “I speak to my representatives and I am sure there will be a lot of conversations.

“But, for me. I don't get involved in that.

“I just really focus on being the best I can be on the pitch and getting fitter and stronger."
