Australian national team boss Holger Osieck has made it clear that he is taking Germany seriously when the two nations meet on March 29.
Osieck named a 17-man squad on Monday for the match in Monchengladbach and even though they lost 4-0 (in the World Cup) the last time the Socceroos took on Die Mannschaft, Osieck says he will lead his adopted nation with intent back to his homeland.
"In any game I play with my team, I want to get a result,'' Osieck said. ''We're not going there to just play and maybe have a good time.
"We want to perform, we want to win. I know how difficult how it is to win in Germany but we are not going into the game thinking, 'I hope it goes well.'
"No, we should be confident. Will it work? I don't know. But the attitude is important.''
And Osieck also said that German coach Joachim Low will be sure to take the contest seriously despite the ease of their win in South Africa.
''I am pretty sure they will take it very seriously because the public in Germany is very demanding,'' he added.
''Whenever the team plays an international game, the fans ask not only for a good result but a good performance, too. I know the mentality there. When you have some not-so-good performances, the media will be merciless.
"There will be no friendly aspect as far as they are concerned.''
