WC2010 review: Slovenia

Slovenia finished exactly where they were expected to in a tough group but not before causing some headaches for the other Group C combatants.

They kicked off their South Africa 2010 campaign with a hard fought win over Algeria before giving up a two-goal lead to share the points with the USA and then proving a tough nut to crack for the highly-rated English team.

Slovenia played with a typically organised eastern European defence and without much flare and certainly with no frills as they notched up four points and just missed out on Round of 16 qualification in a group they were not anticipated to get out of.

Finished: 19th Record: Wins - 1; Draws - 1; Losses - 1; Points - 4 Matches: Algeria (1-0), USA (2-2), England (0-1) Goals: 3 Against: 3
