Watford have rejected an approach from Newcastle United for defender Adrian Mariappa.

The Magpies are believed to have bid in the region of £2million for the 25-year-old, says the Evening Chronicle.

However, the Herfordshire outfit are holding out for more, and have placed a much higher valuation on the centre-back.
