Watford are hoping to secure the services of Nordin Amrabat from Malaga on Monday.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Hornets will complete a club record £6.7million transfer for the Moroccan winger before Monday night's clash with Swansea City.
Amrabat said goodbye to Malaga after Saturday's 2-1 loss at Sevilla with club owner Abdullah Al-Thani confirming the 28-year-old was set to depart.
"We do not wish to sell the player, but everyone must understand: He told me it was his dream and I could not tell him he couldn't go. We are human beings," said Al-Thani.
Dutch-born Amrabat first joined Malaga on loan from Galatasaray in January 2014 before joining the Spanish outfit on a permanent deal last summer.
During his stay at La Rosaleda, the former PSV Eindhoven star has made 64 appearances for Malaga in all competitions, scoring eight goals.
