Watford captain Deeney urging supporters to get behind them

Watford captain Troy Deeney is urging supporters to get behind the players.

Deeney says the players remained confident that they could still have a good season, but said fans needed to be a bit more patient after the change of head coach from Javi Gracia and Quique Sanchez Flores.

"We can't panic yet. If we start panicking what does that transmit?" said the skipper.

"Obviously there's quality there [in the team], but the main quality that's needed now is hard work and resilience and not to fold because as you saw tonight at half time, some fans were a bit iffy and it's six games in. There has to be a sense of realism.

"We're not spending £50 million on centre halves, we're not paying people 200 grand a week. We're still Watford, we're still learning, we're still building, but when we win, we win together and when we lose, we lose together and that's where I think we're getting a little bit lost in the connection between fans and players.

"Don't get me wrong, lose 8-0, you deserve to get battered, we all do. We take that on the chin, but at the same time when we win, be with us.

"We're growing and ultimately changing manager, you've got to find your best team and best formation and we've got a lot of attacking talent now, so how you mould that and get everyone playing and clicking at the same time. It's difficult."
