Watford captain Troy Deeney has undergone knee surgery.
The Hornets provided an update on Deeney's fitness in a statement on Thursday afternoon.
It read: "Hornets captain Troy Deeney has today undergone a minor knee operation that will sideline him for several weeks.
"The operation, conducted by surgeon Sam Church, was successful and everyone at Watford FC wishes Troy well for a speedy recovery."
Deeney played the full 90 minutes in Watford's first two games of the season - a 3-0 defeat by Brighton and a 1-0 loss to Everton.
Manager Javi Gracia said: "We will miss Troy because he is a very important player for us but I know he will be supporting us in the next games. I am looking forward to seeing him back as soon as possible."
