Warnock keen to play down Carlos Tevez affair links with QPR situation

QPR boss Neil Warnock stressed the Football Association charges levelled at the Championship side have no similarity to the Carlos Tevez affair. The league leaders were charged by the FA earlier this week with seven breaches of regulations relating to third-party ownership and agents.

The charges relate to midfielder Alejandro Faurlin, who signed for Rangers for a club-record fee believed to be in the region of £3.5million in 2009.

Rangers could be docked points if they are found guilty, with the situation being likened to the situation involving Tevez and Javier Mascherano when they were at West Ham in 2006/07.

On that occasion, the Premier League elected to impose a £5.5million fine on the Hammers rather than impose any points penalty.

However, Warnock believes parallels cannot be drawn between the two cases.

He told the Daily Mail: "I've spoken to our legal advisers and they have been very reassuring.

"From what they have told me, this is nothing like the Tevez situation."
