Waitakere United hoping to tempt former Japanese international out of retirement

Waitakere are champions of Oceania after defeating Solomon Islands club Kossa 5-0 in last month's OFC Champions League final.

They must play off against the eventual winners of the current J-League season for a place in the final six-team Club World Cup field.

Kawabuchi said the JFA had been approached by Waitakere about Nakata's availability.

Nakata, 31, retired after Japan made a first-round exit at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
