W-League delivers first hat trick

The first hat trick of the Westfield W-League was scored on the weekend, in only the competition's second week. Adelaide United's Sandra Scalzi hit the hat trick in Friday night's 3-2 victory over the Newcastle Jets at Hindmarsh Stadium. Scalzi scored in the 11th, 46th and 50th minutes to complete a first in the new league and help set up Adelaide's first win. In another first, Canberra United scored their first goal in the W-League to record a 1-0 away win over the Queensland Roar whilst Sydney FC accounted for the Melbourne Victory 2-1. And in the final game of Round 2, a late Renee Rollason double saw the Central Coast Mariners overcome the Perth Glory 3-1 in Parramatta.
