Villarreal hero Santi Cazorla feels ready for Real Oviedo debut: My childhood dream

Villarreal hero Santi Cazorla is eager to get started with Real Oviedo.

The former Arsenal midfielder, 38, returns to his junior to close out his career.

Cazorla has joined on minimum salary and has given up his images rights on agreement that 10 per cent of shirt sales are reinvested in the academy.

“I have dreamed many times of my debut at Oviedo. It is an image that passes through your head many times. That day I will be very nervous, because it was my dream as a child," he said at his presentation.

"I do not set deadlines. If it were up to me, I would play in Burgos, but we must respect what has been discussed with the medical staff and the coaches. What I want is to enjoy football at home. You have to see the sensations, the body is sending you messages.

“I had been thinking about going home for a long time. It was always my dream. I always left the door open. I saw it closer in recent months. It was a personal and family decision. It got closer little by little.

“We have not started in the best way, but there is a margin. I hope we win in Burgos, it would be very important. I am convinced that we will have a great season. There is a lot of room for improvement."
