Villarreal fullback Albert Moreno admits they're stunned by their Europa Conference League elimination by Anderlecht.

A 1-0 home defeat saw the Belgians advance to the quarterfinals 2-0 on aggregate.

Moreno said, "We're very down. We didn't expect this, but it's what has happened. We have been eliminated from the UEFA Europa Conference League and now we have to improve, get our heads up and carry on.

"We dominated the game and created a lot of chances, but when the ball doesn't go in... Anderlecht had a great game, but when you have the possession, create more chances and the ball doesn't go in, it's not bad luck. We need to be a bit more aggressive in attack and finish moves.

"We can't have so many chances at home, in front of our fans, and not score."
