Villarreal crock Giuseppe Rossi isn't giving up on making Italy's European Championships squad.
Rossi was first choice in the qualifiers, but snapped knee ligaments and is set to be out for a total of six months.
"The doctors are happy, my knee is strong and can move almost naturally. For the past 10 days I've been running and working with the ball. I'm trying not to look too far into the future, so I focus on day to day work.
"If there are no complications, then I hope to play the last five or six games of the season. That will allow me to get match fitness and hopefully help Villarreal out, as they are going through a difficult time.
"Of course, then I'll have to convince Prandelli that I can help out Italy at Euro 2012.""It is three months and a week since my operation and things are proceeding according to plan," the 25-year-old told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
