Aston Villa are yet to open new contract talks with skipper Ron Vlaar.

The Mirror says Villa chief executive Tom Fox faces a battle to keep captain Ron Vlaar.

The Holland defender is in the final year of his contract at Villa Park. He has held casual talks with boss Paul Lambert about his future, but no detailed negotiations have yet taken place.
