New Aston Villa signing Ron Vlaar has told Arsenal striker Robin van Persie to stay in the Premier League.

Vlaar has urged Van Persie to snub a move to Juventus after admitting it was his fellow Dutchman who helped him decide to move to England.

Van Persie is also wanted by Manchester United and Manchester City.

"I really don't know where he is going. I haven't talked to him lately," said Vlaar. "I just hope he stays in England so I can face him. I've trained against him with the national team and he is a great player.

"It would be a big loss if he leaves England."
