Aston Villa are being linked with Tottenham fullback Pascal Chimbonda.

The Birmingham Mail says with time passing and just five weeks until Villa enter the Intertoto Cup, Villa boss Martin O'Neill could yet be tempted to conclude a swift deal for Chimbonda.

Chimbonda was offered to Villa in January for a permanent transfer but was rejected, only for O'Neill to try to resurrect it as a loan transfer at the last minute and then to be denied by red tape as he already had Scott Carson and Curtis Davies on loan agreements.
