Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood admits the arrival of Carlos Sanchez has forced him to step up his game.

Westwood has no problem with the competition Sanchez's arrival has created.

"It has kept me on my toes.

"Carlos came in on the back of a great World Cup and it was up to me to up my game and show the gaffer I should be playing.

"I've just done my best each game and that's what I will continue to do."
