Aston Villa veteran goalkeeper Brad Friedel was impressed by Ciaran Clark on debut in their victory over Fulham.

"That was a fantastic debut from Ciaran," he said. "He got quite a bit of time in games pre-season and played half a games against Fiorentina and well as in the final against Juventus.

"He was outstanding and I thought the fans were brilliant to him. The first time he got the ball he got a little applause, then when he made his first tackle he got bigger applause and that he going to help the lad a lot."
