Brad Friedel is confident he chose wisely in signing for Aston Villa ahead of Manchester City this summer.

The former Blackburn goalkeeper told Villa's website: "I'm very happy that I've chosen to sign here. I'm very grateful to Aston Villa for wanting me. Villa Park was always my first choice; there weren't too many ifs and buts about that.

"The way they went about trying to sign me was very professional and I liked everything they had to say about the club. As soon as I saw the setup here it wasn't a difficult decision."
