Aston Villa defender Philippe Senderos shrugged off his personal duel with Mario Balotelli during victory at Liverpool.
Television cameras showed that Senderos kicked Balotelli and stuck out a leg to trip him off the ball during the first half, in incidents not spotted by match officials.
The tangles came during a running battle between the Swiss defender and the Italian striker, but Senderos insisted it was all part of the game.
"It's things that happen on the pitch," said Senderos, who won his personal battle, keeping a clean sheet and watching Balotelli get taken off before the end.
"We're running towards each other, against each other, but there's no harm in going like this."
Asked if he feared there could be retrospective action taken against him, Senderos replied: "That's not my say.
"I'm trying to do my job. Everyone is running towards each other, kicking each other. It's give and take."
