Aston Villa have released Eric Djemba-Djemba from his contract.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill confirmed: "Eric has not had the best of times since he arrived here from Old Trafford a couple of years ago.

"This arrangement will give the player the chance to reignite his career and we wish him the best of luck in the future."
