Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill still hopes to bring Jermaine Jenas to the Midlands club.

The £12m-rated England ace has missed Tottenham's impressive start to the season.

The midfielder is close to fitness after a calf injury and could even be made captain if he decides to move.

Jenas, 26, signed a one-year extension to his five-year deal last summer but needs regular first-team football if he is to secure a place in England's World Cup squad.
