After victory over Bolton Wanderers, Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill remains hopeful of a top four finish.
The race for the final Champions League spot took a further twist with Tottenham's defeat at Sunderland.
O'Neill still expects more twists and turns in the tussle between Villa, Spurs, Liverpool, Manchester City and Everton.
Nevertheless, he was pleased to see his team make up ground in the exciting top-four battle.
"Harry Redknapp said a few weeks ago he didn't know whether Tottenham would finish fourth or seventh," O'Neill told Villa's website. "Then the next thing you know Everton come into the mix, so they are fighting very, very strongly.
"Funnily enough our next league game is against Everton so there is lots for all teams to play for.
"We lost ground of course with the defeat at Chelsea and the draws against Sunderland and against Wolves.
"Obviously you lose ground at this stage of the season. Here we deserved to win the game - I don't think anybody doubts that - and we've still got some points to play for."
