Villa boss O'Neill in awe of fans passion at Wembley

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill was amazed by their fans at Wembley for Saturday's FA Cup semifinal defeat to Chelsea.

O'Neill is hopeful the fans can generate a similar cauldron of noise to provide the players with an extra boost against Everton.

"We've gone to Wembley twice now and I think our support was quite phenomenal," he told Villa's website.

"The occasion obviously for the Carling Cup final, you could forgive them for being very vociferous in that - they hadn't been there for quite some considerable time and maybe that was to be expected.

"They certainly outshouted Manchester United all day in that game. But they turned up again in big droves and to hear them again really was very heartening.

"So I could have nothing but commendation for the support that we received the other day. It really was fantastic and they dwarfed Chelsea - I wouldn't say in terms of numbers but in terms of volume and intensity and it was really fantastic to hear."
