Villa boss McLeish keen to hold onto Guzan

New Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish is looking to keep goalkeeper Brad Guzan at the club for next season.

The 26-year old American shot-stopper was loaned out to Hull City last term, indicating that he may be surplus to requirements at Villa Park, but McLeish is keen to hold onto him.

Guzan's fellow countryman, Brad Friedel, left the club earlier this summer to join Tottenham leaving the door open for Guzan to stake his claim as number one but the impending arrival of Shay Given from Manchester City again has him in limbo.

But McLeish made his thoughts on the former Chivas USA man very clear.

"I'd like to hold onto Brad, definitely. I don't think we will be letting him go at this particular stage," he said.
